George and Virginia (Ginnie) Schneider have been benefactors of
Little Company of Mary Hospital since its earliest days. In 1956 George
successfully negotiated for the land where the hospital stands today.
The Schneiders also were instrumental in raising the initial funds for
the construction of the hospital. They have dedicated their time, personal
talents and philanthropic support for over half a century, and are
unparalleled in their efforts to make the Sisters vision of a
Catholic health care system a reality in the South Bay.

George and Ginnie have continued their philanthropy and their active
involvement at the hospital. Ginnie was a founding member of the
Auxiliary of Little Company of Mary Hospital and continues to be an
active member. She has served as a Eucharistic Minister for the hospital,
as well as a charter member of Mary Potter and Company. George was the
first layman elected to the hospitals Board of Directors, where he
served two terms with distinction, first as a Board member and then as
Vice Chairman of the Board. He was President of the Little Company of
Mary Advisory Board and President of the Foundation. In 1962 he founded
the Centurion Club and was its Charter President.
The Schneiders Legacy Campaign endowment, which will be used to
create the George W. and Virginia Schneider Institute for Nursing, is
an extraordinary investment in the hospitals future and the health
of the surrounding communities. By furthering the education and advanced
training of nursing students and Little Company of Mary staff, George and
Ginnie will make visible the healing presence of Jesus at
Little Company of Mary now and for decades to come.
