Each spring our nursing staff are invited to nominate their colleagues that they believe make major contributions to our patients and the nursing profession as a whole. A committee of Nurse Managers and past Nurse Excellence winners interview the nominees. During these interviews each candidate is asked to answer several questions about their nursing practice. The nominees are rated on nursing process, their personal goals as a nurse, their clinical expertise and asked how they see the role of the professional nurse evolving given the constraints and transformation of the heath care delivery system. The scoring system includes the nomination application as well as the how the interview questions were answered by the nominee. The committee then votes and winners are identified. Each nominee is invited to a “Celebration” dinner and awards banquet where the Winner’s are announced. In addition, to the Nominee’s and their guests many of our Physician’s and our Foundation members are also invited. This is an annual event that our staff truly looks forward to attending. Our local program evolved from a program that was developed by national nursing journal known as “Nurse Week”. Nurse Week has program that is open to nominations of all nurses in the state of California. This year we had 3 Finalist in the Nurse Week, Nurse Excellence Awards. Our finalists were selected from a group of more than 300 nominees. |
