Originally from the Midwest, Dr. Chen completed her undergraduate education at Northwestern University and her medical training at Rush Medical School. Knowing that she likes taking care of the whole age spectrum of patients, especially children, Dr. Chen pursued her vision of becoming a doctor. She applied and was accepted into the Family Practice residency program at University of Southern California, where she then successfully completed both her internship and residency training in 2001.

As an outdoor enthusiast, she has thoroughly enjoyed adapting to the year-around nice weather for tennis and rollerblading.
