Recently our Emergency Department has expanded to meet the growing need for services
in our community. The number of patient rooms has almost doubled to fifteen treatment
rooms and includes four resuscitation rooms, two cardiac rooms, four observation rooms,
a gynecological treatment room, a pediatric room and three general treatment rooms.
Some other features of the new Emergency Department include:
| |
A Patient-Friendly Admissions
Area Both walk-in and ambulance patients receive immediate care and attention. A
medical professional meets walk-in patients in the Triage Center to determine medical
condition and immediate need. Ambulance patients are directed to the major resuscitation
and cardiac treatment rooms.

| |
A Fast Track System for Peak Hours
Evenings and weekends are traditionally the busiest times for Emergency Department
visits. The Fast Track System provides immediate quality care for those patients
suffering minor emergencies during peak times.

| |
Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Center
The SART Center, the only one of its kind in our area, provides compassionate,
comprehensive and culturally sensitive treatment for sexual assault victims through
collaboration between the hospital, law enforcement agencies, forensic nurse
specialists and sexual assault counseling advocates.

| |
A Special Pediatric Room
This special room was designed with children in mind and features vibrant
colors, two cribs, a television with VCR, toys and books.
|
|
| |
A Private Family Consultation Room
A separate Family Consultation Room allows physicians to speak privately with
family members about the condition of their loved one.
|
|
| |
A Centralized Physicians and Nurses Station
A centralized core workstation for doctors and nurses provides direct access to
patients, allowing medical professionals the ability to intervene immediately
should patients experience distress. Included in the station are high-tech
monitoring devices that enable physicians to better track and observe
patients.
